The Visegrád Group (also known as the Visegrád Four, the V4, or the European Quartet) is a cultural and political alliance of four Central European countries: the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia.

The alliance traces its origins to the summit meetings of leaders of Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Poland, held in the Hungarian castle town of Visegrád on 15 February 1991. Visegrád was chosen as the location for the summits as an intentional allusion to the medieval Congress of Visegrád between John I of Bohemia, Charles I of Hungary, and Casimir III of Poland in 1335.

The Four Countries, seldom involved in later stages of the UEFA Competitions, have formed a footballing alliance alongside the political grouping wherein the top three teams plus cup winners in each nation participate in a sixteen team Visegrád Alliance League commencing with group stages before progressing the eight qualifiers to a Quarter Final stage.

The final location rotates across eight years, with each country providing two stadiums and hosting every four years.

Minor update to stop teams from same nation meeting in the quarter finals, also avoids same nation in the semi-finals unless more than two teams from same nation have made it of course.
